Vert, Incorporated specializes in painting Lancair Evolution
Aircrafts. The Lancair Evolution is an American made, pressurized, four-person,
low wing, single engine light aircraft, made from carbon fiber, developed by the
infamous Lancair in Redmond, OR. The Evolution is the Ferrari of all airplanes
and is beloved by aircraft enthusiasts.
The Lancair Evolution has a crew of one and fits three
passengers comfortably while giving a beautiful futuristic look. The wingspan
is 37 feet by 30 feet in length and gross weight around 4,350 lb. It can hold
168 gallons of fuel and can travel comfortably at 295 mph. There are only 3
companies in the world that can strip these down to the bone and paint them
with perfection and we are one of them!
A huge contributor to the Evolution’s performance apparatus is
the wing design. The design is optimized using Xfoil analysis software and verified
through wind tunnel testing. The wing is tapered and uses four different airfoils,
resulting in “a balance of desirable flight characteristics tailored
specifically for cruise performance, in-flight maneuvers, efficient climb and
docile low-speed handling and stall behavior,” said Lancair’s COO Tom Bowen.
Vert, Incorporated has helped with the wing design by adding
a secret feature with their unique painting process that gives the airplane
faster speeds and maneuverability. This unique approach to the evolution has
caught on and many owners are flying out to Redmond, OR to allow Vert, Inc. to
